Client Background
Saket is originally from Mumbai, India, and now lives in Singapore with his wife and 15-year-old daughter, working as CEO for the Asia-Pacific region of an Indian multinational.
His Financial Challenge
Saket met Mandar through what started as an ordinary social introduction — what he calls, in his own professional language, "a cold call" that was really just a social one. Before that, investing wasn't something he'd given much structured thought to. As he puts it himself: "Till we met Mandar, I never thought about investing money."
Planning Process
What stood out to Saket from the very first meeting was Mandar's approach — hours spent asking simple, foundational questions before any recommendation: why are you doing this, what's the objective, what's the timeline, and Mandar's own phrase, "when do you need the money?" Once a plan was worked out, Mandar's advice was never to rush a decision — "let's not sign over it, sleep over it." That same patient, unhurried process has carried through six years of working together.
The trust built over that time went beyond Saket's own finances. A couple of years in, a conversation over coffee about how Saket first learned to invest led him to organize a session for around 25 of his own employees — ranging from people already investing to people who didn't believe in it at all. Mandar spent nearly four hours answering every question patiently, and several employees went on to start investing themselves. Saket has since introduced Mandar to his personal network of friends and even his personal trainer, who made his first investment at age 50.
Outcome
Six years on, Saket describes Mandar as "our family's confidant, financial advisor, and a family friend." What started with a simple question about investing has grown to cover his family's insurance needs, health plans, investments, retirement planning, his daughter's education, and legacy planning — all without rushing the process.
